Nicholas Fuller, M.D.

Dr. Nicholas S. Fuller is an anesthesiologist who specializes in diagnosing pain and helping patients manage their pain. He has been practicing medicine since 1995. His goal for every patient is to improve his or her level of function and quality of life with an intelligent plan. Dr. Fuller’s training and level of experience makes him one of the most qualified physicians in America to offer this care.

Background

Dr. Fuller graduated from medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1991. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Colorado and his residency in anesthesiology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, the premier teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School.

After his residency, Dr. Fuller completed a fellowship in pain management at the University of Washington in Seattle, the first multidisciplinary pain center in the nation established by Dr. John Bonica. He subsequently completed additional training with Dr. Elliot Krames in San Francisco, one of the first physicians to utilize implantable intrathecal infusion systems for pain management.

Professional

Following that training, Dr. Fuller joined the anesthesiology group at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he served as an attending physician in the pain management center and the main operating room, and also as an inpatient consultant. As the director for inpatient pain management for an 800-bed medical center, he was responsible for pain management consultations and peri-operative pain control. During this time, he also pursued his interest in diagnosing and treating spinal pain conditions, and he started the interventional fluoroscopy unit at Cedars-Sinai Pain Center.

Dr. Fuller is a national instructor for the Spine Intervention Society, where he trains other physicians and is recognized as a Master Spine Instructor. He is also a member of the North American Spine Society. Dr. Fuller is a founding partner of Westside Anesthesia Services, as well. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine. Although Dr. Fuller is a recognized expert in spinal interventions, he is skilled in all aspects of pain management, including headaches, musculoskeletal and spine pain, complex regional pain syndrome, medication management, and substance withdrawal.

Dr. Fuller considers it a privilege to use his knowledge to benefit his patients. He has safely performed over 20,000 spinal interventions and has participated as an anesthesiologist providing sedation for an additional 15,000 patients having procedures performed by other spine care professionals. He routinely takes care of patients with spinal conditions before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Dr. Fuller has served as an enlisted soldier and a commissioned officer in the US Army, serving in the 3rd United States Infantry (the Presidential Honor Guard). He has also been a member of the Texas National Guard and was commissioned in the Medical Service Corps.
